Cold storage, sealed against moisture.
Closed cell spray foam for cold storage buildings: a moisture and vapor barrier as well as insulation.
How we do it.
- Closed cell for moisture and vapor. It's an air, moisture and vapor barrier in one layer.
- It can go directly on metal. We strongly recommend a coating over it.
- Conditions checked before we spray.Spray foam is temperature sensitive, and surfaces have to be below 8% moisture.
- Bid like a commercial job.Send drawings and specs through our bid request.
Foam and thickness.
| Foam | Where it goes | Typical thickness | R-value per inch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Closed cell | Directly on metal. A coating over it is strongly recommended. | Quoted per job | R-7.6 to 8.1 |
R-value measures how well insulation holds back heat. Higher is better. Closed cell is rigid and also blocks moisture; open cell is softer and dampens sound. Ranges are from Universal Polymers (UPC) data sheets, tested at 1 inch. We choose the foam for each job. See the data sheets
Questions.
Can you spray wet or cold surfaces?
No. Moisture has to be below 8%, and spray foam is temperature sensitive, so we check conditions first.
Does foam on metal need a coating?
Closed cell can go directly on metal, and we strongly recommend a coating over it. Several coatings can go over foam, and we can supply one if you need it.
